Aussie 2011

Another very late post on where I’ve been. My family loves to travel. On the first week of May, we went to Sydney, Australia. I really really love Sydney. If I were to choose were to live it would be sydney. Very accommodating and friendly people and such a clean place. When we stayed in Sydney i never had allergies, it proves there is less dust there.

We had an almost 10 hour plane ride. They are really strict with food, medicine and stuff that you bring to their place. You should never bring food or beverages to their place, especially dairy stuff, because they will just be confiscated. Even food from the plane, you should not bring it.

First day in Sydney. We decided to take a walk. We ate first at Hungry Jack, a fast food chain. It’s like Jollibee of  Sydney. Then we went to Queen Victoria building. Along the way, we saw the park, town hall, souvenir shops, and some familiar fast food chain like pizza hut and krispy kreme. Speaking of parks.. They have this really really well maintained parks. Back to our route, after going to QVB we went to Strand Arcade. Strand Arcade are where local brands are located. A must try: HAIGH’S CHOCOLATE. Yummy chocolates! I regretted that I never bought a lot of chocolates from there. Darn! It was really yummy. After buying chocolate, we went to buy a bag for our lola. We went to David Jones. In the middle of the street there are performers. You can enjoy live music while shopping. =) We went home early because we were so tired of walking.

Second day: We had a half day city tour with Opera House tour. We were picked up at Marriot since it was near our hotel. Then went around the city. We passed by the spectacular Darling Harbour, Sydney Entertainment Centre, Chinatown, Sydney Aquarium and the Monorail, Sydney Opera Housem The Rock’s – Sydney’s birthplace, Conservatorium of Music, Parliament House, Hyde Park, St James Cathedral, St Marys Cathedral, Art Gallery and the Domain, Visit Mrs Macquaries Chair – superb views of the harbour and city skyline (we stopped by and took a picture of the opera house and the bridge together), Royal Australian Naval Base at Garden Island, Kings Cross – Sydney’s ‘hot spot’, Exclusive Double Bay and Vaucluse, The Gap – stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and the Heads, Bondi Beach – Australia’s most famous surf beach, Historic and trendy Paddington, Sydney Tower and Sydney Town Hall. We were dropped at the Sydney Opera House for our 12noon tour.  We had a tour inside the world’s most recognizable sails and one of the busiest performing arts centre. We were just WOWed when we entered the rooms. Too bad pictures were not allowed. There is an interactive audio-visual display that will take you on an engrossing story with dramatic twists and turns. After our Opera house tour we had lunch at a nearby restaurant. Food was great! You just have to watch for the birds. They are so tricky. Once you don’t look out for your food they try to steal that salmon in you sandwich. We went to Circular Quay to catch the next trip for Taronga Zoo. I decided to go to Taronga Zoo BY MYSELF! My mom did not want to go there because she never liked animals and walking. haha! But i told her that before I leave Australia I have to see that hopping animal, Kangaroo! So she let me go there but by myself. Btw, the ticket for the zoo is bought together with the ticket for the boat. So when I arrived at the zoo you have to ride a cable car to reach the top of the zoo. I saw many animals like the kangaroo, birds, platypus (nothing like pery the platypus in F&P), and koala but the koalas were sleeping. They are so big and cuddly. Kangaroos were hopping around, they were so adorable. The zoo was really big. Gosh! my feet were aching so I decided to go back. When I arrived we bought Gelatissimo, which originated in Australia. We went home riding the free bus. (According to our tour guide, every thursday there is a free bus going around the city. You have to catch that 555 bus.) We were dropped off at the park near our hotel and we just enjoyed the park’s fantastic view while going home. We just bought noodles beside the grocery store for our dinner.

Third day: We had our free breakfast and finish packing. We were picked up by our driver and went to the airport and flew back home.

Hotel: Stellar hotel (3 star hotel, i think). Very nice place to stay because its a few blocks away from the park and the shopping area.

Best souvenir: Chocolates (buy from convenient store so its cheaper) and keychains from souvenir shops

Season: Autumn

Weather: Cold breeze. If you’re from the Phil. you’ll enjoy it there. It’s like the whole Sydney is air conditioned. hahaha!

Our tour guide: Grayline
